On October 7, 8, 9, & 10, 2016 Hundreds gathered in Nogales, AZ and Nogales, Sonora to bring awareness of the need for immigration reform.
So many faces so much seen in those individuals who joined together in hope and a desire to make a positive impact on immigration policies.

Anti-Trafficking Walk-a-Thon at Sisters of the Holy Family Motherhouse. Thanks to Holy Family Associate Angela Matthews and Sister Annie, SHF, the annual Trafficking Walk-a-Thon drew over 70 participants.
The non walkers cheered on the walkers. The many walkers ranged in age from 3 years to 85 years. Many Associates, Sisters, and Friends walked happily around the grounds. SHF Associate Kathi Goodman walked the circle more than 15 times with her husband close behind.
At the conclusion of the walk, Sister Caritas Foster gave a presentation on trafficking followed by a Trafficking Survivor who is now working in Oakland with children survivors.
We then adjourned to a delicious Bar-B-Que. The money raised will be given to Clare’s House a residential home for children survivors and to assist Anti-Trafficking Coalitions around the Bay Area.
Nicaragua Pre-School Project Sister Sandy Price, a sister of Notre Dame de Namur, has worked fearlessly in the mountains of Siuna, Nicaragua in Mulukuku for over 35 years. She and other sisters of Notre Dame have been a beacon of light for the families of this area in education, spirituality, and human rights. Sister Sandy “leads a group of sisters who collaborate in the recruitment, training and execution of the programs for education, health and social welfare of the families… The families are subsistence farmers who plant beans, corn, rice, bananas and a few vegetables and fruits.”

Over the years one of our associates in particular, Pat Stacker, has raised funds and educational material for Sister Sandy. Associate Pat Stacker courageously battled cancer for the last three years of her life and died in 2015. The Notre Dame Associates have held a fund raiser to build a pre-school in Nicaragua for the children in Pat’s honor. The event was held at Associate Coordinator Dede Waters-Masters lovely home in San Carlos on August 27th. Many Sisters, Associates and Friends gathered for a truly festive evening including a delicious barbecue along with a raffle for exciting door prize baskets! Pat would be very proud of what is happening!
